Benefits and Constraints of iAnatomy
Pros
1. Allows scanning through sectional anatomy images similar to scrolling capability on PACS. 2. Has computed tomography sectional anatomy images with relatively small slice thickness of head, neck, chest, abdomen, and pelvis. 3. Has corresponding actual human anatomy images of face, neck, and pelvis. 4. Allows for self-quizzes of anatomical structures. 5. Well organized by organs, muscles, bones, and other structures. 6. Once on device, the app does not need Internet access to run. |
Cons
1. Not free, but cost is minimal at app store ($ 0.99). 2. Has no sectional anatomy of upper and lower extremities. Little emphasis on MSK imaging. Main focus on abdomen, chest, and neuro. 3. Could be improved with greater bank of actual human anatomy images from other areas (no abdomen and chest). 4. No ability to save self-quiz results. 5. No magnetic resonance images. 6. Only transverse planes are visualized--no sagittal or coronals are available. |
